How to use MechaSquid
Everything MechaSquid does, and where to find it. Inside a book, every page also has its own Help (in the menu, or the ? key), which says what that page is for and how to do the main things on it. Your AI assistant, once connected, reads this same guide, so you can also ask it.
- Getting started
Your first book in MechaSquid: starting one, importing one, or looking around the sample.
- Writing
Write mode, the editor and its tools, comments, history and reading your text aloud.
- Planning
Plans, the outline, the plot view, cards, rounds, goals and the timeline.
- The story bible
The wiki of your world: pages, links, relationships, the Graph, labels, finding, renaming, merging, the trash, flags and pictures.
- Maps and travel
The Atlas: making a map, uploading your own, setting the book on Earth, and travel between places.
- Your readers
Sharing a book privately, readers' comments, questions and suggested changes, and emails when they respond.
- Publishing your book
Turning a finished book into an ebook and a paperback, submitting to literary agents, and what the trade words mean.
- Your assistant
Connecting Claude, ChatGPT or another AI app to MechaSquid, step by step, and what to ask it.
- Your data
Exporting your books, Word files and the Obsidian vault, automatic backups, importing a book, the trash, and deleting a book or your account.
